OCP Employee Named to the Board of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council

Jonathan Rifkin, OCP’s Sustainable Purchasing Coordinator, was named to the board of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council. The mission of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council is to support and recognize purchasing leadership that accelerates the transition to a prosperous and sustainable future. In this new role, Mr. Rifkin will: act as an ambassador for the SPLC; provide oversight and leadership to the members of the SPLC; support organizational growth and development; and support collective actions and decisions of the board as a whole.

The SPLC is the first organization of its kind to provide guidance on environmentally preferable products, provide a social platform where ideas and best practices can be shared, and implement a leadership recognition system that will allow institutions to earn credits for implementing best practice guidance

As a member of the board for SPLC, Mr. Rifkin will bring to the position his intimate knowledge of governmental and sustainable purchasing amassed over his six year tenure at OCP.  Currently Mr. Rifkin is working with a cross-section of OCP’s staff, customer agencies, vendors and other stakeholders to embed sustainable decision points in the District’s purchasing process.
