OCP Surplus Property Team Helps FEMS Provide Better Emergency Response during Public Events
March 27- This month, OCP’s Surplus Property Team outfitted the District’s Fire and Emergency Management Services Agency with 20 bicycles to provide mobile paramedic services during public events that attract large crowds.
Through its partnership with the General Services Administration’s Federal Excess Property Program, the OCP Surplus Property team acquired the bikes at a significant cost savings to the District. The bikes will allow paramedics to reach victims quicker than would a traditional emergency response vehicle in large crowds and park settings. This added method of transportation is an important safety measure that will benefit residents and visitors to the District.
The project with FEMS is another example of OCP’s efforts to improve reuse and reutilization District-wide. The OCP team has worked with many District government agencies, schools, and local non-profits to utilize surplus property from the local and federal surplus programs, to provide furniture, computers, and other items as needed.
