November 12 -- Congratulations to Director James D. Staton, Jr. for completing the DC  Executive Leadership Program, today. The graduation ceremony for the first inaugural cohort was held at the Carnegie Library and attended by Mayor Vincent Gray, Director Shawn Stokes of the DC Department of Human Resources, and hundreds of resource management professionals. Mayor Gray specifically recognized Director Staton for his leadership and achievement through the transition to the Delegated Procurement Authority model.

The Executive Leadership Program was designed to support the development of effective executive-level leadership among members of the Mayor’s cabinet and their senior staff. The program also aims to enhance the supply of executive-level talent across the District by establishing a robust pipeline of Cabinet-ready leaders from which current and future mayors can draw.

Over the course of 8 months, the coursework focused on five core subject areas: Organizational Leadership, Strategic and Systemic Thinking; Leading and Managing Change; Executive Communication and Political Savvy; and Data Analytics and Critical Thinking.
